Tell us about sustainability, what are you good at?
At Swissôtel The Stamford, sustainability is closely knitted within our corporate culture and can be seen in every aspect of our business and operations. We are dedicated to minimising our environmental footprint, supporting local communities, and promoting responsible tourism practices. Through the implementation of waste reduction programmes, adoption of energy-efficient technologies, and engagement in community outreach initiatives, we aim to generate a positive influence on both the environment and society.
At Swissôtel The Stamford, our pioneering Aquaponics Farm exemplifies innovation and sustainability, embracing a thoughtful Farm-To-Table approach. Here, fish and plants thrive symbiotically, with nutrient-rich water from the fish tanks nourishing the crops, while the plants filter the water for the fish. This revolutionary farming method demands minimal resources compared to conventional agriculture, rendering it highly sustainable and efficient in food production. By sourcing directly from the Farm, guests indulge in the freshest ingredients while significantly reducing carbon emissions associated with traditional produce transportation. Since 2020, our Aquaponics Farm has consistently supplied approximately 30% of vegetables and 10% of fresh fish to our restaurants and convention centre each month. Furthermore, beyond its environmental merits, the Farm serves as an educational hub, providing guests and students with insights into sustainable agricultural practices and the significance of local food production.
In addition to our commitment to environmental stewardship, Swissôtel The Stamford is deeply devoted to cultural sustainability, community outreach, and fostering inclusivity. Through partnerships with local artists like Yip Yew Chong and charitable organisations such as Beyond Social Services, we actively contribute to the preservation of our heritage and the betterment of our community.
